Purpose of our profiles
Bet Scope Global publishes profiles of betting and gaming operators, suppliers and related companies. The profiles are reference material: they describe who a company is, where it is licensed, who owns it and what regulators have said about it. This page explains how we research and maintain them.
What we do not do
- We do not rate, score or rank platforms for players, and we do not tell readers where to bet.
- We do not accept payment, free credit or any other benefit for coverage, inclusion or omission.
- We do not publish affiliate links or sign-up offers in profiles.
- Inclusion in our database does not mean a company is legal, safe or endorsed by us.
Standardised profile fields
Every profile uses the same core fields so companies can be compared on a factual basis:
- Licensing status: licences held, the issuing authority and licence numbers where published.
- Jurisdiction: where the company is incorporated and where it is licensed to operate.
- Ownership: parent company, major shareholders and group structure, as disclosed in public records.
- Market capitalisation: for listed companies only, with the exchange, ticker and the date the figure was taken.
- Core business lines: for example lottery, land-based gaming, sports betting, online gaming, or B2B technology supply.
- Regulatory action history: fines, sanctions, licence suspensions, enforcement notices or blocking actions published by regulators or courts.
If information for a field is not publicly available or cannot be verified, we say so rather than estimate it.
Data sources
- Official regulator registers and published licence lists.
- Statements and enforcement announcements from Malaysian authorities such as the Ministry of Finance, MCMC and PDRM.
- Legislation and gazetted notices, including texts published by the Attorney General’s Chambers.
- Court records and judgments.
- Company filings, annual reports and stock exchange disclosures.
- Regulators in other jurisdictions where the company holds a licence.
Company websites and press releases are used only for basic descriptive information and are labelled as company-provided.
Verification
Each key fact is checked against at least one primary source, and licensing status is checked directly against the issuing authority’s register or official statement wherever one exists. An editor reviews every new profile before publication. When we contact a company to confirm details, we record its response, but we do not let it edit the profile.
How we determine legal status in Malaysia
Gambling in Malaysia is governed by federal legislation, and licensed forms of gambling are permitted only under licences issued by the relevant authorities, with the Ministry of Finance responsible for licensing. Licensed activity is also subject to restrictions, including on who may take part. We describe an operator as licensed in Malaysia only when we can point to an official source showing it holds a current Malaysian licence for the activity in question.
A licence from another country does not make an operator licensed in Malaysia. Where a company offers services to Malaysian users without a Malaysian licence, or has been the subject of blocking or enforcement action by Malaysian authorities, the profile states this with a source. Where the position is unclear, we say it is unclear rather than draw a conclusion. Our profiles are factual summaries, not legal opinions; readers needing advice should consult a qualified lawyer.
Update cadence
- Profiles are reviewed at least every [X months].
- Market capitalisation figures for listed companies are refreshed [frequency] and always dated.
- Licensing and regulatory sections are updated as soon as practical after a relevant regulator announcement, court ruling or company disclosure.
- Each profile shows a “Last updated” date and the name of the reviewing editor.
