Our mission
Bet Scope Global is an independent publication covering the betting and gaming industry with a focus on Malaysia. We report news, explain laws, regulation and tax, profile operators and related companies, and publish educational guides on how betting works. Our aim is to help readers, researchers and industry observers understand a complex and heavily regulated sector using accurate, verifiable information.
We do not recommend, rank or promote betting platforms. Nothing we publish is an invitation to gamble, and nothing we publish is legal, financial or tax advice.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editors alone. Operators, advertisers, sponsors and other commercial parties have no say in what we cover, how we cover it, or when we publish. We do not send articles to the companies we write about for approval before publication. Where we contact a company for comment or to check facts, we decide how any response is used.
Commercial relationships and disclosure
If Bet Scope Global carries advertising or has any other commercial arrangement, it is handled separately from the editorial team. Our rules are:
- Editorial staff do not negotiate or manage commercial deals.
- We do not accept payment, gifts or other benefits in exchange for coverage, favourable wording or the removal of critical reporting.
- Any sponsored or paid material, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labelled as such and kept visually distinct from editorial content.
- We do not run advertising for operators that are not licensed to offer their services in Malaysia.
Sourcing standards
We rely on primary sources wherever possible and tell readers where information comes from. Our preferred sources include:
- Legislation and official legal texts, such as those published by the Attorney General’s Chambers at attorneygeneral.gov.my [confirm official URL].
- Official statements and announcements from public bodies such as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Ministry of Finance.
- Court records and published judgments.
- Company filings, annual reports and stock exchange announcements.
- Statements from regulators in other jurisdictions where a company holds a licence.
Secondary sources, such as other news outlets, are used for context and are attributed. We avoid anonymous sources; when one is unavoidable, an editor must know the source’s identity and agree that the information is reliable and in the public interest.
Fact-checking and review
Every article goes through a defined process before publication:
- Writer: researches the topic, links or cites sources, and checks names, figures and dates.
- Editor: reviews accuracy, sourcing, fairness and clarity, and confirms the piece meets this policy.
- Legal or regulatory review: articles explaining law, regulation or tax are additionally reviewed by [a qualified reviewer, e.g. a legal or compliance professional], who is named on the article.
If a claim cannot be verified, we either remove it or clearly state that it is unconfirmed.
“Last updated” and “Reviewed by”
Explainers, guides and company profiles show a “Last updated” date and, where applicable, a “Reviewed by” line naming the person who checked the content. We revisit evergreen content regularly and whenever laws, regulations or company circumstances change. Changes to facts are handled under our Corrections Policy.
Use of AI tools
Our content is written and edited by people. We do not publish AI-generated content without human review. Where staff use software tools, for example for transcription, spelling or summarising long documents, a human remains responsible for every word published and checks all facts against the original source. AI tools are never treated as a source.
Responsible gambling
Our content is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not promote illegal or unlicensed operators, and we do not publish content designed to encourage gambling. Conflicts of interest
Writers and editors must disclose to the editor-in-chief any personal or financial interest that could affect their work, such as employment with, shareholdings in, or close relationships with a company they cover. Where a conflict exists, the person is removed from the story or the interest is disclosed to readers. Staff may not use information gathered for reporting for personal gain.
